Story - Sinjin Decides
Game Date: 5/1/2004
Location: San Francisco, California
Sinjin sat in the infirmary looking at Cynthia resting in her bed.
Resting, he thought, yeah right. Drugged out of her gourd is more like it.
This is it, she cannot continue on like this. Too many friends are gone. It will be for the best, in the end. I blame myself for bringing her back to this, but now I will make it right.
Father Michael will have to accept this decision. None of his talks about power and responsibility are going to change my mind this time. Cynthia has paid the price too many times, she will not have to pay it again.
"But what about you, what price have you paid," rang the strange but familiar voice in his head.
I was wondering when you would show up, always around when the news is bad.
"Is that really what you think of me," rang the voice of the Monitor.
No, thought Sinjin, but you should know what price I have paid. The same one as her, for you know that out thoughts are shared. That all she has been through, I too have known and she has in turn lived through me.
"So you will turn your back on the others," the strange voice droned.
For now, that is what must be. She cannot go on like this and I must take care of her.
"When you look into her thoughts, is this what you see. It this what she wants, too."
When I look into her mind, I see tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
"That is not what I meant."
Yeah, I know what you meant and I will discuss it with her when she is better. But for now, I have made up my mind. Oh, one other question. Why did you not show up as a rat or a bat this time?
"This place is sealed against such pests."
Sinjin laughed to himself as he felt the Monitor slip away.
