Story - Workout Confessional?

Game Date: 5/5/2004
Location: San Francisco, California

Who: Kitsune, Knight of Saint Michael

Sara was in the workout room, going through some strength and agility testing. She had run through the tests first in her human form, then as Kitsune, and was now running as the fox. It was kind of fun; sort of like the agility trials they had for dogs. She had a whole new appreciation for the animals after a few rounds of climbing, jumping, and running through a tunnel.

Sara was just finishing up as Sir William walked into the workout room. He eyed the fox suspiciously. Sara thought about turning into her human form, but decided against it. In human form, she'd be sweaty and winded, just like her fox form. The fox breathed much more efficiently, though it didn't have the sweat glands to cool itself down. Instead, she projected an illusion of herself, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, but not sweaty or panting.

"Good afternoon, Sir Knight," the Sara illusion said. "How are you this afternoon?" "Pretty good, considering," the young man answered. To him, the illusion was real, though if anyone else entered the room they'd wonder why he was talking to the air.

"Pretty good considering what?," she asked him. "Considering that our field commander just aged 20 years, our 'visible' leader is headed for a 'long rest', the healer is going with her and the rest of our experienced members are all MIA in an unknown dimension?"

"Considering that, certainly," the knight answered.

"You don't know these people well enough to really be concerned about them, do you?"

"No. But I see the effect it's had on everyone else. I admit, if they were close to me I'd be more affected."

"It's hard for me, William. I've never dealt with loss like this before," she said.

William sighed. "It doesn't really get any easier, one just has to cope."

Sara dropped the illusion revealing her true location and appearance in her sweaty workout clothes. "I'm not sure I know how to cope," she said. "I tried to be brave right after. We came back to Alcatraz to get help but some people couldn't be helped." She started crying.

William started to walk from the room. "I'll leave you to your feelings," he said. "You need time to adjust to the present way of things."

"No, please," said Sara. "I don't want to be alone. It doesn't make it any better."

"Very well," said William. "I will stay in the room." He knelt as if to pray.

"Wouldn't the chapel be a better place for that?" asked Sara.

"You said you didn't want to be alone, and God can still hear me from here."

"I see your point." Sara knelt. "Hail Mary, full of Grace, blessed art thee among women..."

"It's Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus."
