Rogue Prime, Part 2 - Stories

Post-Session: 28

A look at what happened during and/or after Session 28.

Story - Alt-Prime 4.0

Game Date: 4/30/2006
Location: San Francisco, California

Who: Alt-Prime

Alt lays out the map of the office and light industrial park on the long wooden table as he eyes the gathered Tophats. They are young. Young enough to not have any sense of their own mortality. Just what he needs for his little plan. After a moment, he begins, "The Wardens will come after me eventually. What you need to keep in mind is this is NOT a scorched earth operation. Worse case scenario is my temporarily 'going to sleep' for a time while my operatives further my plans in my absence. Therefore, my plan of attack is to strike at the Warden's moral. Their will to fight."

Alt gestures towards the map, "If the Wardens are half-way intelligent tacticians they will wait until the most of the offices are closed and the majority of innocents have left. That will give us control of the grounds. We will set up here..." Prime notes as he points towards the Arena street scene, "Have a dozen of your youngest recruits armed with my specially modified laser rifles get into cover around the crossroads. They are to take a single shot at the closest Warden when they arrive, then flee to the fall-back positions. There they will dump their laser rifle into a waste disposal chute and pick up the waiting toy replica before allowing themselves to get caught. Jay will be standing ready at the main console in the battle center. If any of the actual rifles fall into Warden hands, Jay will immediately activate the remote explosive charge. I have placed one in each of the laser rifles to destroy the evidence if need be."

Alt smirks a bit as he continued, "The Arena will be festooned with surveillance cameras, remote-controlled pyrotechnic charges and hidden speakers. Any time one of the Wardens use their powers, Jay will activate the closest charge and a recording of a screaming or sobbing child will play from the nearest speaker. When the footage is released to the media, it will look as if the Warden's beat up some harmless children while rampaging through a laser tag arena - so we'll want as short a delay between events and media release as possible. The cover story for the toy rifles will be a 'special inner city laser-tag competition' to reduce gang violence. I've set up a little program that will allow us to upload anonymous footage to several websites and television stations on a near real-time basis, but we'll use a short delay in case we need to censor something out."

Alt pauses perusing the map, "With luck, the shock of the situation will cause the Wardens to at least temporarily retreat - and give public outrage enough time to deter them from coming back. If not, the real battle will come in the tunnels underneath the Arena. Out of sight of the media and the law. If they get that far, the gloves can come off."

Alt points at another section of the map, "I'll be waiting for them here, in the tunnels underneath the animatronics ready room. The animatronics will have a few surprises in store for the Wardens if they decide to try to bypass the tunnels and come at me directly from above. If not, the Wardens can look forward to a long hard march through our tunnels."

Alt's gaze sweeps over the map one final time, before concluding, "Remember this, however. No matter what happens, this battle is not to reach the Lincoln building. That would be disastrous for both my plans and the Tophats. Also, keep in mind the Wardens won't be here forever. They are based on the other side of the country. If it looks like we won't be able to stop them, our focus will change to minimizing our loss of resources and covering our tracks. 'Sweeping up' any evidence of criminal activity. We have plenty of cleaning service uniforms and fake ID badges. Have a few of the non-coms ready to toss anything incriminating into the disposal system once the Wardens are out of sight. A garbage 'pickup' has been arranged to ensure that nothing incriminating ends up at the waste processing center for the authorities to get their hands on.
