Story - Dear John Meeting?
Game Date: 9/20/2006
Location: San Francisco, California
Rebecca calls Judah and says she would like to meet with him. She tells him no questions now and to meet her at Gypsy's, a coffee shop in Berkeley on Friday morning at 7:00 AM.
Judah agrees and hangs up the phone.
Wondering where the nervousness came from he says aloud, "Okay, I am over 5000 years old and am acting like a fourteen year old child with a crush. What is wrong with me?"
Shaking his head he lays out a nice suit. While ironing he queries the Warden's computers for any known data on the doctor. Referencing her birthday, he determines the flower related to her birth and calls a local florist. He orders an arrangement of two dozen daisies but the florist balks at the 6:00 AM pickup time. He mumbles something about Rebecca, then offers the florist a $100.00 tip and she agrees to have the flowers ready in the morning.
Eon spends several hours training with the Knight, making subtle inquiries about the doctor when he can. Things like, "how long have you known her?", "do you know her favorite color?", "what kind of music does she like?"
After the session Eon showers and checks the time, 5:00 PM. He decides to work on finishing his latest painting. Diligently, he works through the night until it is completed. The painting is a portrait of Rebecca on the hillsides overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge with the sun setting in the background.
He checks the time on the computer, 5:45 AM. WHOA. After quick shower, he calls for a transport to the mainland, dresses quickly then heads out. He signs out an Alcatraz Foundation SUV and stops by the flower shop to picks up the flowers. Rushing over to the coffee shop, he parks and goes inside to grab a table.
"Here with twenty minutes to spare, good."
He orders a cup of European blend and coffee cake then begins the hardest part, the waiting.
About ten minutes later he looks up to see her entering the door. His heart jumps as she looks his way, smiles and heads towards his table. Only to come crashing down when he sees her reach for the hand of the handsome young man that had entered behind her.
When she reaches his table, she introduces her companion as Dr. S. Alon Sloan. Sloan releases her hand and extends his hand towards Judah, who reluctantly shakes hands with the young man.
Rebecca and S. Alon have a seat at the table. She orders a large Masala chai and twelve grain toast. S. Alon orders a large unsweetened apple juice.
Rebecca looks at Judah, "I am so glad you came. I really needed to talk to you."
She goes on to apologize once again for the awkward moments on her doorstep after dinner a couple of weeks ago.
Then she says, "I make it my professional policy not to date my patients. There is too much at stake to make a life-or-death decision that could be tainted by emotion. As such I can no longer see you."
Judah's heart shattered, she was dumping him before even giving him a chance. Then to add insult to injury she had brought her boyfriend along to rub it in his face how alone Judah truly was.
Rebecca continued, "So I have asked S. Alon to take you on as a patient. Most of his work is as a researcher but he knows as much about paranormal medicine as I do, if not more. Of course this is contingent upon how you feel about it."
Judah looked at Rebecca confused for a second. In his head the thoughts whirled, "Ok what did I miss here? I umm, wait, ok, I guess I did not get dumped, well I did but by my doctor..."
Judah smiles and looks back at the doctor and then at Rebecca, he reaches over and scoops her up in his arms and gives her a huge kiss.
"Well it looks like I will need to get my insurance information to him, thanks Doc, I promise not to be a frequent patient, besides I think I have found something to live for."
Smiling Judah hands Rebecca the box of flowers, "These are for you, I think you will like them."
Judah watches her reaction and can hardly contain his heart, "So Doc, tell me do you have any questions, usually my doctors tend to have LOTS of questions. Now would be a good time I guess."
