Wardens Fourth Edition
A Jury of His Peers - Downtime
A look at what happened after Session 29.
Area and Group Notes
Asenblut and Vanenspeer invite the Knight and Amethyst to take part in a conference call with the Alta Verde council. During the call the brother and sister make it clear to that they will decline any request to return to the valley and will be staying in San Francisco during the Tribunal. This revelation almost puts an end to the Tribunal but the Knight, Amethyst and der Grüne Ritter work out a tactical plan for the defense of the valley should it come under attack during the tribunal.
A press conference is held in which the FSS and Orion announce that der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer have agreed to surrender to authorities and face judicial review by an Orion Tribunal. The Tribunal will be held at the FSS Western Region Headquarters on the Presidio. The Wardens announce that at the request of the FSS and Orion that they will house and guard der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer while they are in San Francisco.
Several articles are published during the week after the press conference that leak details of a deal in place between the FSS, Orion and der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer. They reveal that in exchange for $250 million USD in restitution and intelligence of several criminal organizations that the defendants will be allowed to enter a plea of 'nolo contendere' and adjudication will be withheld on all charges. One article says that the former members of Primfaktor would be sentenced to lifetime probation and be monitored by Orion for the rest of their lives. Another says that they will receive a sentence of life with no probation to be served in a South American penal facility.
After much discussion the Wardens formulate a plan for bringing der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer into San Francisco then to their headquarters on Alcatraz Island. The Anhinga, the Wardens mini-sub will rendezvous with a ship at sea and pick the former members of Primfaktor up and transport them back to the base. Each day the Anhinga will be used to transport the defendants to FSS Pier 12 where it will dock at the secured sub facility. The defendants will transfer to an armored limousine that Amethyst will drive and head for the Presidio along with three decoy limousines. The limousines will all take different routes but will arrive at the FSS Western Region headquarters at the same time. The defendants will exit the limousines in the underground parking garage and enter the facility via the executive elevators. After each day's proceedings, the process will be reversed to get the defendants back to Alcatraz Island.
Karalyn Nicholas, a.k.a. Amethyst (II)
Karalyn spends a good deal of time finalizing the details for the Tribunal proceedings with Joachim Hyradi. She considers telling him her secret identity so that she can act more freely during the hearings but then decides against it. In the end, she concocts a story for both Hyradi and the Wardens. She will dress up as 'Karalyn' and if anything happens during the hearings she will change into Amethyst then explain to Hyradi that Karalyn had asked her to act as his bodyguard during the Tribunal.
Amethyst spends a good deal of time working with the Wardens on finalizing the details for housing der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer at their headquarters on Alcatraz Island and escorting them to and from the Tribunal at the FSS Western Region Headquarters on the Presidio. She explains to her teammates that she will be attending the Tribunal at Joachim Hyradi's request disguised as his assistant and will be his bodyguard during the proceedings.
Randy McLeod, a.k.a. Delta-Vee
At the Doctor's Office
Randy receives a letter at the Wardens headquarters. It contains several pictures of him that were obviously taken in the hospital in Latvia. It also contains a note of warning, "always be aware that there are watchers that take an interest in talented individuals... some are friends, most are not... chose your friends wisely." It is signed, a friend. The letter is postmarked as being from Herndon, Virginia.
Randy takes some time away from all the planning for the Tribunal to teach some classes at the Ramon Marcel Community Center. On one of his visits, he arrives to find graffiti painted on one of the courtyard walls at the center. Some of it calls Delta-Vee a Nazi lover and has an image of Randy dressed as an SS soldier. Another graffiti image portrays Delta-Vee as the Sieg Heil Super Soldier and is signed The Mud Puppy. Dr. Cho assures Randy that the police have been notified and the incident is being investigated.
Judah Ambrose, a.k.a. Eon (Lazarus)
William Rouen, a.k.a. Knight of Saint Michael
William spends as much of his free time as he can with Bridie. He was raised to be a warrior and finds it hard to relate to her issues with him putting his life in jeopardy as part of his day-to-day activities.
William continues to spend his free time when not with Bridie at Notre Dame des Victoires for confession, prayer and meditation. He continues to seek guidance on relationships both past and present as he prays for enlightenment regarding both his father and Bridie. He also looks for guidance on his comrades. It is not like he remembers, a team works together to establish a level of trust so that whether in battle or everyday life each knows his role and the others know what to expect. Unfortunately, this was not the Wardens.
The Knight checks on the monitoring of Prime and finds that that he continues to be much more calmer than he had previously been. While Prime is at the base he is willing submitting to monitoring of his 'lab work' by Dr. Alfonso Spheris, the UC-Berkeley professor that Dr. Kensington had recommended as someone that could keep an eye on the pretentious primate. Prime's lab activities usually consist of reading alternate dimension texts and scanning and copying the ones he finds interesting to DVDs. When in his room, Prime uses an etching laser to copy data to pennies before going out every few days. After a couple of weeks, a black car with government plates starts picking Prime up at FSS Pier 12 then brings him back later in the day.
During the sessions with der Grüne Ritter discussing valley security during the Tribunal, the Knight gets a through overview of the Grand Empire's activities in South America. They are still recruiting and training new personnel. Intelligence suggests that they are moving behind the scenes to establish or enhance their governmental contacts in the hope of getting a free zone in which to operate from and avoid Orion and several local law enforcement entities' push to break the Grand Empire once and for all.
The Knight spends time re-examining the Prime goes rogue issue. Based on his own observations and Prime's research records the most likely controlling entity was the AI in the cosmic computer. The Knight checks with Freddie Lawrence to ensure that "extra security measures and extra patro... scans of the systems" are being conducted. He considers giving the data on Prime activities and experiments to Freddie, but decides to speak with Amethyst and Miss Majestic about it first.
The Knight checks up on the Orlando incident. His research shows that law enforcement authorities in the Orlando area have been trying to get info on who is supplying the Top Hats with blaster weaponry but have been unable to come up with any solid leads. They have alerted the FSS and Orion to the issue and the federal and international authorities are currently working with the locals to setup a task force to investigate the matter further.
