The Grand Raid - Interludes

Interludes: 22

A look at what happened behind the scenes during and after Session 22.

Interludes

Interlude 22.901

Game Date: 7/25/2005
Location: Unknown

It was finally done, the news was being dispersed and soon the raids would happen.

It was a masterful work of code, Talon mused, but it had been broken. The resources it had taken were amazing. The geniuses, Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and Whitney. The academics, Enik and Henry. The staff members, Sam, Jonas and Raul. The others had had input, too.

But Talon was bothered. This was the work of a true master not a mere computer genius talent but one that thought on an entirely different level. The threat from the new Imperium was greater than the others had imagined. The raids needed to be a success, their activities in the United States had to be stopped.

To solve the puzzle then trust that the others could apply the solution, Talon was worried, and this was a new experience.

Interlude 22.902

Game Date: 8/14/2005
Location: San Francisco, California

Orlando was his name. He was a very nice and well mannered young man. He was also very easy on the eyes. But in was not his looks or his manners that had attracted her to him. It was his aura, the gift of power was like a beacon in the darkness. Getting him in the club would be a feather in her cap.

Interlude 22.903

Game Date: 8/20/2005
Location: San Francisco, California

His quarry had returned to San Francisco. Just as Casjen had expected the real target had not been located in Los Angeles or Las Vegas, so both his and his quarry's hunts went on.

Interlude 22.904

Game Date: 8/23/2005
Location: San Francisco, California

It had not been as hard a task as she had thought it would be, in fact the thing that had surprised her most was when the old man looked up from his book without any hint of surprise at seeing her and asked, "What took you so long?"

Their talk had been fruitful.

The old man had indeed recognized that his actions in calling the Dissenter had been folly but he had argued that fate had demanded his actions. She had wanted to kill him right then and there but the plan they had settled on would surely bring about a fate worse than death for the old man.

She knew that she would carry through with her part of the plan, her death had been destined.

Cara only hoped that the old man was ready to pay the same price.

Interlude 22.905

Game Date: 8/25/2005
Location: San Francisco, California

Father Guillaume stood in his garden. He knew that the Dissenter would be outraged at his summons but he was bound to follow the old man's demands or face banishment. He could hear the curses of the Dissenter increase in volume as he approached the garden.

The old man lifted the seat of the stone bench on which he usually sat to read.

It was gone, but where?

Then the cold laughter struck him chilling him to his very core.

The old man looked up to see the Dissenter, standing in the doorway with the chalice.

"Looking for something?"
