In the Court of Public Opinion - Session

Session: 30

A look at what happened during Session 30.

Session Entry

Game Date: 7/10/2006
Location: San Francisco, California

Who: Amethyst (II), Delta-Vee, Eon (Lazarus), Knight of Saint Michael, Prime, Jaxton Gray, Karl Keilman (Asenblut), Käthe Keilman (Vanenspeer).

Adversary: Sturmgräfin, Sturmkrieger, Sturmpanzer, Sturmwolf and Sturmjäger

The Wardens gather in the sub-level four vehicle hangar beside the Anhinga. They review the plans for the day while waiting for der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer. The others arrive dressed in conservative business attire, the group and their charges all board the Anhinga and head for FSS Pier 12. The trip to shore is a quiet one as everyone tries to focus on the possible problems that may arise on the trip from the FSS Pier on the waterfront to the FSS Headquarters Administration building at the Presidio.

Once the Anhinga puts into her bay at FSS Pier 12, the team escorts their charges to the adjoining garage and into one of the four waiting limousines. Amethyst takes her place behind the wheel and heads out of the garage. As they exit the garage, the team sees several groups of protestors outside the security fence. The protestors signs and chants focus on the unfairness of allow the criminals to buy their justice. Amethyst turns out of the FSS waterfront facility and takes route number three with the decoy limousines taking one of the other planned routes. Route three will take the longest and should get them to the Presidio after the decoys.

On arrival at the Presidio, the Wardens see more protestors with signs about buying justice. There are also a large group of supporters, unfortunately they are neo-Nazi groups in their uniforms. As the limousine drives by, they salute and start chanting "sieg heil." The other protestors start laughing at and heckling the neo-Nazis, this causes most of the SFPD and FSS personnel on crowd control duty to also start laughing bringing the chant from the neo-Nazis to a quick end.

Amethyst drives into the underground garage beneath the FSS Headquarters Administration building. FSS agents escort der Kampfkoloss, die Kampfmaschine, Kriegstochter and Panzer to the elevators. The Knight takes up a position in the garage near the elevators. Delta-Vee stays in the limousine, pulls out the video game console and starts playing.

Prime teleports into one of the production trucks for the Cable News Alliance, scaring the production personnel inside. Once everything has calmed down, Prime and the assistant producer strike a deal where Prime can stay in the production truck as long as he provides commentary on the Tribunal.

Eon dressed in a business suit takes an elevator up to the courtroom to watch the proceedings from the gallery.

Amethyst heads for the elevators. Once around the corner she rushes to the end of the hallway and up the backstairs to the Tribunal room floor. She ducks into the women's room designated for attorneys and courtroom staff. After making sure no one else is in the room, she locks the door and changes into her Karalyn/bodyguard clothes. She puts her Amethyst visor and vest into a secret pouch in her briefcase.

As Karalyn walks into the ante room outside the courtroom she spots Joachim waiting by the door to the courtroom. He calls quietly to her and motions for her to come over. "Are you ready?" Joachim asks.

"Yes, I am ready," Karalyn answers.

"Did the Wardens help out like you promised they would?" Joachim inquires.

"Oh yes, they escorted our clients from Alcatraz to the FSS Headquarters Administration building as we had arranged," states Karalyn. "I just checked with them and they have taken up positions in the garage and our clients should be here shortly."

"Thank you for making the arrangements with the Wardens," Joachim responds graciously. With that Joachim and Karalyn walk into the courtroom and take their places at the defendants table to await the arrival of their clients.

Karalyn warns Joachim, "Sir, be very careful. There are protestors outside and things could spiral out of control in a hurry."

The Tribunal opens with the chief magistrate making a statement about the proceedings and timetable for the next few days. He then defers to the chief clerk and a reading of the charges commences. The first charges presented are against Jürgen Kohler, also known as der Kampfkoloss, then the charges against Helga Volker Kohler, also known as die Kampfmaschine are read. Afterwards, the Tribunal takes a recess for lunch. Upon returning from lunch the charges against Beatrix Hunter, also known as Kriegstochter are presented. The last part of the afternoon is taken up by the reading of the charges against Lorenzo Alister, also known as Panzer.

After the charges are read, the Tribunal adjourns for the day.

Karalyn hurries down a couple of flights of stairs and finds a ladies room. Once she confirms it is clear, she locks the door and trades her professional clothes for her Amethyst gear. She then hurries down to the garage, arriving just before the former members of Primfaktor are escorted to the limousine by FSS agents.

Prime makes it back to the garage in a couple of pops from the television truck.

Once everyone is in the limousine, Amethyst heads out first before the decoys and takes route number two back to FSS Pier 12. The protestors are out at both the Presidio and FSS Pier 12 but they are not a numerous or as loud as they were on the morning trip. The cruise back to the base aboard the Anhinga is uneventful.

Before going their own ways for the evening, the team reviews the day's activities and previews the following day's activities.

The next morning, the Wardens once again gather in the sub-level four vehicle hangar beside the Anhinga. When their charges arrive, they all board the Anhinga and head for FSS Pier 12. At FSS Pier 12, they transfer from the Anhinga into a limousine with Amethyst once again behind the wheel. The groups of protestors outside the security fence number about the same as the previous morning. Amethyst takes route number two leaving last for the Presidio. The number of protestors at the Presidio has increased compared to the previous morning. The neo-Nazi groups have also returned with signs of support but refrain from saluting and chanting.

Once the FSS agents have relieved them of their charges, everyone pretty much follows the previous morning's routine. The Knight takes up a position in the garage near the elevators. Delta-Vee stays in the limousine, pulls out the video game console and starts playing. Prime teleports back one of the production trucks for the Cable News Alliance. Eon dressed in a business suit takes his place in the courtroom gallery.

Amethyst hurries up the backstairs to the Tribunal room floor then to the women's room for her change of attire. She then joins Joachim in the courtroom.

The Tribunal's second day opens with the first junior magistrate making a statement about the agenda for the day's proceedings. He then defers to the chief clerk and an entering of pleas begins. Rather than allow a plea for all charges, the magistrates rule that the plea for each charge must be entered separately. Defense Counsel Joachim Hyradi protests the ruling and the magistrates review their decision before letting it stand. The first defendant, Jürgen Kohler also known as der Kampfkoloss, stands and begins to enter his pleas. Next, the second defendant Helga Volker Kohler also known as die Kampfmaschine stands and enters her pleas. After, the first two defendants pleas have been entered the Tribunal recesses for lunch. Upon returning from lunch, Beatrix Hunter also known as Kriegstochter enters her pleas to be followed by Lorenzo Alister also known as Panzer entering his.

After the pleas are entered into record, the Tribunal adjourns for the day.

Karalyn hurries down a couple of flights of stairs, finds the ladies room and does her quick change. She then hurries down to the garage, arriving just after everyone has boarded and takes her place behind the wheel. Amethyst heads out third in line with the decoys and takes route number one back to FSS Pier 12. The protestors are out at both the Presidio and FSS Pier 12 and their numbers have almost doubled since the trip in that morning.

The cruise back to the base aboard the Anhinga is uneventful. Back at the base, the Wardens are notified of protestors on the island at the launch landing. They leave shortly thereafter when the last launch leaves for the day. The team reviews the day's activities and previews the following day's activities. The Knight cautions the group about getting complacent and to stay alert at all times. They then go their separate ways for the evening.

The next morning, Delta-Vee reports a large increase in the number of protestors at the FSS Pier 12 compound. The reports from the Presidio indicate a similar increase in the number of protestors there. The Wardens and the former members of Primfaktor board the Anhinga and head for FSS Pier 12. The limousines have to proceed very slowly through the protestors when leaving the waterfront facility. Amethyst takes route number four leaving first for the Presidio. Once arriving at the Presidio it is quite evident that the number of protestors has increased dramatically compared to the day before. The only group that seems to be on the wane is the neo-Nazi groups but there is still a small cluster of them with signs of support.

Prime thinks something may be up with the neo-Nazis and suggests checking up on them. There is some discussion and a rare occurrence happens, Prime and the Knight find themselves in agreement on an issue. The team begins to discuss who should look into the neo-Nazis.

Prime points out, "I am not cutout for that," looking first at himself and then to the Norman knight.

"I have them on my radar," replies the Knight.

"I did not know you had radar powers," quips Eon.

Once the FSS agents have taken the former members of Primfaktor to the elevators, the Wardens split up. The Knight takes up a position in the garage but unlike the previous two days it is near the garage entrance so he can have a view downhill towards the gate. Delta-Vee stays in the limousine, pulls out the video game console and starts playing. Prime teleports back one of the production trucks for the Cable News Alliance then keeps an eye on the feed from cameras monitoring the protestors especially the neo-Nazis. Eon once again dressed in a business suit takes his place in the courtroom gallery.

Amethyst hurries through her normal change of attire before joining Joachim in the courtroom.

The third day of the Tribunal opens with the second junior magistrate making a statement about the day's schedule. He then defers to the chief clerk and the floor is open to the prosecution to present its arguments regarding the 'nolo contendere' pleas entered by the defendants. There is much grandstanding by both the FSS and Orion prosecutors and it takes them the entire morning to finish their presentation. After the prosecution's presentation concludes, the Tribunal breaks for lunch. When the Tribunal resumes, Joachim Hyradi presents the defense's plan for a 250 million USD relief fund to be administered by the Radley Foundation to compensate individuals with claims against the defendants. The defendants will surrender for their freedom and be incarcerated for the rest of their lives at an Orion approved facility and upon their surrender will forfeit all national identification and travel documentation to Orion. All charges will be suspended with judgment withheld at the conclusion of the Tribunal but can be reinstated if the defendants fail to surrender an the Orion approved facility within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Tribunal or if the defendants leave the Orion approved facility for any reason within approval from Orion. Hyradi's presentation takes a little under two hours and the Tribunal adjourns to consider the matter. The Tribunal will resume on Friday morning with a decision being rendered at that time.

Karalyn hurries down a couple of flights of stairs, finds the ladies room and does her quick change. She then hurries down to the garage, arriving before the FSS security detail has brought the former members of Primfaktor down from the courtroom. A few minutes later the FSS security detail brings the four down the hallway that leads from the service elevator. It appears that several people had gained access to the building with fake media credentials and had caused a disturbance at the main elevator bank forcing a detour. Their charges are loaded into the limousine then the Wardens get in with Amethyst taking her place behind the wheel. Amethyst heads out second in line with the decoys and takes route number one, the shortest most direct one, back to FSS Pier 12. The protestors outside the Presidio and the waterfront complex slow the trip to a crawl and it takes a little over an hour to journey from the Presidio to the pier facility.

The trip back to the island is quiet as the Anhinga slides through the water undisturbed.

Upon arrival at the base, the group is alerted that approximately 40 protestors are on the island at the launch landing. When the island's exhibits close for the day, the protestors refuse to leave. The park ranger staff at the landing request that the Wardens come out and talk the protestors into leaving the island. It is overcast and misty with a front supposed to move through later that night and the park rangers want the protestors off the island for their on safety.

The Wardens respond to the disturbance at the launch landing. Delta-Vee takes an underwater route and comes up behind one of the park rangers, it scares him causing him to stumble and almost fall off the dock into the water. The rest of the team along with Asenblut and Vanenspeer arrive at the docks and are about to open a dialog with the protestors when Delta-Vee picks up a localized weather disturbance moving towards them. He tells the others that he believes that Sturmgräfin is coming in from the southeast.

Amethyst, Prime, the Knight, Asenblut and Vanenspeer move to put themselves between the approaching Sturmgräfin and the protestors. Eon and Delta-Vee warn the park rangers of the trouble and urge them to get the protestors to the safety of the cottages. Delta-Vee then takes off in the direction of the weather anomaly.

Delta-Vee sees Sturmkrieger leaving the anomaly and sneaking into cover behind the restrooms at the launch landing. He attempts to catch him off guard and misses. Sturmpanzer comes striding out of the anomaly and is engaged by Vanenspeer and Asenblut. Amethyst, the Knight, Prime and Eon find themselves engaged in combat with Sturmgräfin and Sturmwolf.

Delta-Vee is hit by a long-range shot from Sturmjäger. When he regains his senses, Delta-Vee realizes that he is the only one capable of closing with the hunter and attempts to find him by tracing the route Sturmgräfin had came in on.

Sturmpanzer is brought down by Vanenspeer and Asenblut, who prey upon the suits vulnerability to electrical attacks by hitting him multiple times with lightning bolts. Prime and Eon concentrate their attacks on Sturmwolf and take him down. Amethyst and the Knight continue to battle with Sturmkrieger while Sturmgräfin flies around attacking all of the Wardens.

An alert is received from the cottages indicating that they are under attack by troops armed with heavy weapons. Asenblut and Vanenspeer volunteer to go and aide the Alcatraz Security Force at the cottages.

Amethyst and the Knight combine to bring down Sturmkrieger. While Prime and Eon turn their attention to Sturmgräfin, who sees that he whole team has fallen and flees.

Delta-Vee arrives in the general area where he believes the hunter is hiding but is unable to locate him. Sturmjäger fires and hits Delta-Vee dazing him. Then Delta-Vee is knocked unconscious.

The Wardens at the launch landing regroup and secure their captives and call in the FSS.

Asenblut and Vanenspeer let the team know that the attack on the cottages has failed and the agents have been captured. Their heavy weapons caused major damage to the cottages exterior facades but where unable to pierce the cottages armor.

Delta-Vee comes to and finds a body lying on top of him as well as blood and brain matter. He spends several minutes after pulling himself from under the body with dry heaves as his body tries to void the contents of his empty stomach. After he regains his composure, he calls the others and requests that a coroner and forensics team be sent to his location.

Amethyst, Delta-Vee, Eon, Prime and the Knight take the next day off to decompress from the previous evening's combat and the stresses of their guard and escort duties.

They return the next morning and after an evaluation of the situation decide to use the Erne to transport the former members of Primfaktor directly to the Presidio. They notify the FSS and are met by several SOS teams on their arrival.

The Tribunal magistrates decision is merely a formally that ratifies the already agreed upon deal and after giving their decision they declare the Tribunal at an end. The Wardens return with their charges to Alcatraz and after they are aboard the Anhinga, the team wishes them well on their return to Alta Verde.
