Federal Cases

Shelby Jeffers (Nightstick), David Starling, Anna Kozarin (Aura), Grace Prentiss (Beryl).

Aura contacts FSS Agent Chen. She says that she has a proposal to discuss with the FSS regarding her criminal record in Russia. After initial discussions with FSS Regional Director Joaquim Hyradi, Aura and Nightstick travel to Washington, DC to meet with the FSS Director and his staff.

David, Grace and Alcatraz Foundation attorney, Analexis Fleming, go to Washington, DC to meet with the Director of the National Parks Service to secure Alcatraz Island as a base of operations for the Wardens.

Aura and Nightstick meet with Alice and Bryce, representatives of FSS Director Paul Vanyan. Anna reveals her identity and presents the information on all of her activities while working with Kerenski. Anna also gives Alice and Bryce the report on Kerenski, his organization and his psionics research program. Anna states that she left Kerenski because she could no longer live with the fact that her actions were harming people. She goes on to explain that she has joined the Wardens in an effort to make amends for her previous criminal activities. Anna says that she has presented her information in good faith and would hope that some sort of arrangement could be arrived at that would allow her to stay in the United States as a member of the Wardens. Alice says that Anna would need to submit to a debriefing by the staff before any recommendation could be made to the Director. When Nightstick expresses his reservation about a debriefing, Bryce explains to him that no deal would be made without it. Anna consents to a debriefing by the FSS staff. Alice says that the debriefing will take place the next day and that arrangements have been made for their accommodations that evening. Anna and Nightstick are taken to an FSS safe house in suburban Virginia.

David, Grace and Analexis meet with the Jocelyn Roberts, Director of the National Parks Service. They present their proposal for the Alcatraz Foundation's takeover of Alcatraz Island and its use as the public headquarters of the Wardens. Roberts expresses concern over exposing a site such as Alcatraz to attacks by criminal paranormals and denying the public access to the site. After several hours of negotiations, everyone agrees to break for the evening and continue the negotiations the next day.

David and Grace return to their hotel and get a message than Sinjin has been severely injured. David and Grace teleport to Berkeley. After healing Sinjin, David and Grace return to Washington, DC.

The next day a car arrives to pick up Anna and take her to the debriefing. Nightstick is reluctant to let her go alone but Anna insists that this is her decision and that she has to work with the FSS to ensure that she gets to stay with him and the Wardens. Anna leaves with the FSS SOS team and Nightstick begins to pace a trail in the rugs of the safe house. After several hours of pacing, Nightstick goes down to the gym at the safe house to work out his frustrations. Anna returns accompanied by Alice after six hours of debriefing. Anna looks like she has been put through hell. Nightstick gives Alice hell, but Anna says that everything is okay and goes to bed. Alice tells Nightstick that the Director will make his decision and let them Anna's fate know within the week. Alice tells Nightstick that Anna must remain in Washington, DC at the FSS safe house or return to San Francisco and stay at the FSS San Francisco Central headquarters. Nightstick says that he will talk to Anna when she wakes up and let Alice know where they will await the Director's decision.

David, Grace and Analexis spend a second day negotiating with Jocelyn Roberts of the National Parks Service. An agreement is made that that will allow the Alcatraz Foundation to takeover operations of Alcatraz Island. The Wardens will be allowed to construct a headquarters on the site of the former officer's apartments and parade grounds. The Alcatraz Foundation will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the public areas of the island and would also assume all operation expenses. Additionally, the Alcatraz Foundation would fund restoration efforts and be responsible for repairing any damages to facility, whether caused by natural sources or paranormal criminal attacks. The agreement has a twenty year time period, but can be canceled at anytime by either the Alcatraz Foundation or the National Parks Service.

Nightstick and Anna decide to stay in Washington, DC to await the decision regarding Anna's fate.
