David's GPS locator confirms that the group is in Berkeley and that it is Friday, December 8th. Nightstick tunes into the police and FSS frequencies and discovers that their are three majors disturbances and many minor ones. The first major disturbance is down by the marina and is being handled by the SFPD Silver Knights and a FSS Special Operations and Support (SOS) team. The second is at the ferry building and is being handled by a Surge, Gauss and an unidentified female paranormal supported by a FSS SOS team. The third is near Pier 23 and is being handled by Dragon, Huntress, Estrella and an unidentified female paranormal supported by a FSS SOS team. The minor disturbances are occurring all over the city and are being chased down by the SFPD.

Based on damage reports the group determines that the biggest threat is at Pier 23. David takes Aura and starts teleporting for Pier 23. The others take to the air headed for Pier 23. Mandrake takes Dameon and Griswold, Marut takes Nightstick and Hellfire takes Wong Wei Hong.

David and Aura arrive at Pier 23 to find Huntress and all of the SOS team down. The Darkling Entity is being fought by Dragon and a female in dancer's tights. David heals Huntress and she rejoins the fight against the Darkling Entity. Dragon is grabbed by the Darkling Entity and is soon left unconscious and dying. David begins healing the members of the SOS team. Huntress and Dancer keep up the fight as the others arrive on the scene.

Mandrake, Marut and Hellfire start blasting the Darkling Entity and Nightstick joins in with his grenade launcher. Dameon and Wong close to engage the creature. David heals Dragon and he rejoins the fight. Aura attempts to read the Darkling Entity's mind. The chaos of his mind is unreadable but her attempt draws the wrath of the creature and it starts attacking her. Aura soon goes down under the Darkling Entity's onslaught. The others continue their attack on the Darkling Entity. Mandrake lands a telling blow on the creature drawing its attention away from Aura and David moves in to heal her. The Darkling Entity quickly takes out Mandrake and turns his attention towards Dameon. Dameon lands a telling blow but is knocked out as the creature tries to steal his life energies. David after healing Aura begins working on Mandrake. Hellfire and Nightstick combine to drive the creature away from Dameon. Marut swoops in and whisks Dameon out of immediate danger. Nightstick, Aura, Huntress, Dancer and Dragon press the attack against the creature and it goes down. As the Darkling Entity tries to rise, Hellfire piles into him flying at her top speed and the Darkling Entity goes down with a crash.

Griswold comes running out from under a car, grabs the Darkling Entity's amulet and starts running away yelling "mine, mine, mine." When Griswold removes the amulet, the downed form of the Darkling Entity turns into a cloud of smoky fog and disappears. David uses his telekinesis to grab Griswold and takes the amulet away from him.

The group discovers that when the Darkling Entity disappeared all of the other disturbances ceased. Mandrake gets the amulet from David and starts studying it. David goes to the marina to help take care of the injured SOS team members and Silver Knights. The other Wardens begin cleaning up the mess at Pier 23. Dragon and Huntress head to the ferry building.

Mandrake discovers that the amulet holds various magical energies including energy from himself, Wong Wei Hong, Hellfire and a large amount of energy from Brimstone. Mandrake surmises that the Darkling Entity was using the magical energies to allow it and its minions to leave their home plane and come to Earth's.

Dancer introduces herself to Mandrake. She tells him that her name is Mariah Hernandez and that she is Rayo's daughter. She asks Mandrake if she can join the Wardens. Mandrake tells her that he will have to check with the others and get back to her.

The group hears a call on their team radio frequency from Dragon for David Starling to get to the ferry building as soon as possible. David responds that he is on his way and the rest of the group decides to go to the Ferry building to see what is happening. When they get to the ferry building they see Gauss and Surge protecting a female paranormal dressed in a yellow green costume from Dragon and Huntress.

Dragon explains to David the woman is the criminal paranormal known as Beryl and that she is wanted for several counts of armed robbery and assault on a police officer. Surge explains to David that Beryl had helped fight one of the Darkling Entity's Sentinels and that he and Gauss did not feel it was fair for her to be taken into to custody.

Mandrake goes over to Beryl and questions her about what happened. Beryl explains that although she had previously committed several robberies and fought with the police while getting away that she had never wanted to hurt anyone just to get some money. She goes on to explain that when she saw the Dark Entity's Sentinel wading through the SOS like they were children, she joined with Gauss and Surge to fight off the menace before anybody was killed. Mandrake relates her story to David.

David asks Dragon to allow the Wardens to take Beryl into custody and that he would be personally responsible for seeing that she did not escape until a deal could be worked out with the authorities about Beryl's future. Dragon is at first reluctant but finally agrees to allow the Wardens to take Beryl into their custody.

After handling all the reporters' questions, the group goes to their waterfront warehouse headquarters. At the headquarters, Hellfire tells the others that they need to return to the Darkling Entity's dimension and find out what happened to Brimstone. Wong mentions that in addition to finding out what happened to Brimstone, that they needed to find out if the Darkling Entity was still a threat and deal with the creature accordingly. The meeting ends and everyone leaves. Mandrake, Dameon, Griswold and Hellfire go to Mandrake's estate in the Napa Valley to study the amulet and find a way to return to the Darkling Entity's dimension.

David takes Beryl to his house. Sitting outside of the house is a black limousine. When David and Beryl approach it, the rear door opens. A hand with green fingernails motions for David to come closer and a female voice says "come." David ushers Beryl around the limousine and into the house. Beryl inquires what that was about and David tells her it is a personal matter and to forget it.

David goes on his computer to find out what had been happening since they had left for the Darkling Entity's dimension and discovers that the San Francisco Chronicle has run an expose on him and his paranormal abilities. The article details David's life from his time in college at UCLA through the accident in Vancouver earlier that week. David calls Rebecca to warn her that the press might start hounding her about him and to find out how to contact Samantha, Jesse, Tanya and Karen. Rebecca tells him where to locate Samantha, Jesse and Tanya then volunteers to contact Karen since she is also doing graduate work at Berkeley. David calls and leaves messages for the others warning them that the press might bother them for information about his background.

After wading through all the messages from reporters on his answering machine, David finds that he has a message from Gwendolyn Lawrence. She tells him that he should have listened to her and hired a publicist before the press found out that he was a paranormal. Gwendolyn says that she is still interested in working for the Wardens and asks David to give her a call.

Nightstick and Aura return to Nightstick's warehouse apartment. Shelby gets a message from Eric Stevens inquiring on the investigation into Louisa Firch's activities.
