Wardens Chronicles

Dr. Arron Jenson, a.k.a. Volt

Arron Vincent Jenson was born on February 19, 1979 in Yellow Canyon, Nevada. His father, Harrison (Harry) and his mother, Felicia, both worked in stage shows in Las Vegas while trying to break into the film industry in Los Angeles.

Yellow Canyon was a desert retirement community conveniently located near Las Vegas. The town was populated by older adults leaving very few playmates and little for Arron to do. He sank into the worlds of his imagination fantasizing about exploring other worlds and places. Sometimes, he would pretend that the world was in danger from some alien threat. He would come to the rescue and save the planet from almost certain destruction. The few playmates that he did have, were much older than Arron and he quickly developed a maturity beyond his years.

Arron had problems adjusting when he first started school. First he had to ride a bus for almost an hour to get to school then he was always having disagreements with his teachers. His parents soon decided to have Arron home schooled. A friend of his mother's, Rosella Briceno, had just moved back to the United States from Argentina and said that she would teach Arron while she looked for a job as a school teacher. Rosella soon noticed that Arron was very bright well beyond his years in certain areas of study. She told his parents and they began looking for an educational alternative that would help Arron meet his full potential.

As luck would have it, Harry landed the lead part in the latest installment of the Star Voyage television series. He was to be the captain of the Ulysses going boldly where no one had gone before.

Arron was sent to the Corman Academy at age 7. Corman was an alternative school that instructed children in their areas of their highest tested aptitudes in addition to providing a well rounded general education curriculum. Arron excelled at the sciences especially Chemistry and Physics. Due to his father's role on Star Voyage: Ulysses, Arron decided that he wanted to be an astronaut.

Felicia died from breast cancer when Arron was 10. Arron thought about becoming a doctor but his instructors told him it would be best to follow his aptitudes rather that struggle in the medical field.

Arron was pretty much a bookworm and spent most of his time studying. He completed his high school coursework by age 12, but his father chose to have him stay at Corman rather that attend a university or college. Harry figured that Arron was not yet ready from a social standpoint for college life.

After a five year run, Star Voyage: Ulysses came to an end. Harry soon joined the cast of General Medical Center, a daytime soap opera.

His father's decision for Arron to stay at Corman worked to Arron's benefit as the next year he met Carlotta Manuchi. She was an exchange student from Italy and was in much the same situation as Arron. She had finished her high school coursework but was deemed too young for college by her parents. The two became fast friends and spent the next few years discussing science, he the physical fields and she the biological ones. They also started going out and learning more about the world outside the halls of academia. Their friendship blossomed into love and then eased back to friendship. Each decided that there were other things they needed to accomplish and that their educational opportunities would take them in different directions for the foreseeable future.

In March of 1995, the two friends said goodbye. Carlotta had received a scholarship to the University of Hawaii where she planned to study Marine Biology. Arron headed off to M.I.T. to study Physics and Quantum Mechanics.

Arron soon earned his bachelor's degree in Physics. By the time he was nineteen, Arron had his master's degree in Sub-Atomic Physics. He earned his Ph.D. in Quantum Physics at age 21.

During his time at college, Arron and his father grew apart. Arron knew that his father loved him but the two of them could not communicate. The worlds that they worked in were too far apart. Arron had no interest in the make believe worlds of Hollywood and Harry did not have the intellect to discuss the theoretical worlds of Quantum Physics.

After leaving M.I.T., Arron went to Berkeley and spent a couple of months visiting with Carlotta who had taken a research job at the university. There was still a spark of love between them, but Arron soon felt restless. He needed to work on an idea that kept running through his head.

Arron left Carlotta and Berkeley behind and took a job with a government research lab. Arron died in a lab accident on December 24, 2001.

The Secret History of Dr. Arron Jenson.

Arron approached the government with his idea looking for a grant to fund his research. Instead of just giving him funding, they set him up with a lab and research team at the Foxmarch research facility near his home in Yellow Canyon, Nevada.

Arron had an idea that would revolutionize space travel. If it worked the galaxy and one day the universe would be open for manned exploration.

Arron worked for several years documenting his theories and working on experimental computer models to test his ideas. His team was awed as they saw the promise of the ideas unfolding before them.

Then the day came for first real experiment to take place, December 24, 2001, Christmas Eve. What a present we will give to the world if this works thought Arron as he flipped the switch to start the test.

Something happened, something unexpected. There was a fluctuation, a fluctuation that his theories and the computer models had not predicted. The particle beam from the cyclotron test chamber was suddenly amplified and broke through the magnetic containment field hitting the control room where Dr. Arron Jenson was observing the horrifying results of the disaster. His last thought before the particle beam hit was that the test had been sabotaged.

Dr. Jenson and the control room were instantly vaporized. Secondary explosions in other labs breached by the particle beam destroyed the entire west wing of the Foxmarch facility.

Arron woke to find himself in the mountains. His clothes were charred but still provided more than enough coverage to preserve his modesty. He walked to the nearby highway. Looking at the sign, US-95, at least I am still in Nevada, he thought.

Arron caught a ride to the nearest town, which the driver told him was Walker Lake. Arron was shocked, hundreds of miles from Foxmarch, he thought. Did the saboteur's work cause the experiment to create a spatial warp that displaced him hundreds of miles from the lab? If so, where was the control room equipment. It should have been displaced with him. Arron knew he had to get to the lab and discover what had happened. He thanked the driver for the ride and got out of the truck.

How am I going to get to Foxmarch? Arron thought. I wished I could fly and to his surprise Arron found himself flying toward Foxmarch. With some practice Arron found that he could raise his energy level and convert to an energy form that flew much faster. His was at Foxmarch in less than an hour.

What he saw surprised him, the destruction was tremendous but it was the men in the armored suits looking down from the highlands to the north of the lab that attracted his attention. He flew over near them and landed. He could hear them talking to someone, must be via radio as he heard one of them say that the static had cleared and ask what were their new orders. The one speaking confirmed that the lab was destroyed and that the doctor was missing presumed dead, so there was no one to pick up. Aaron listened intently and could barely make out what the person on the other end of the communication link said. "Our contact on the inside has not reported in, abort the mission and return to base." He had been right, there was a saboteur. It also seemed that the saboteur was in league with the armored men and that were after more than the experiment's data, they were after him, too.

Arron panicked and flew away. After flying for a while, he decided to head for Berkeley. No one who knew him would look for him there, there was too much water.

Upon his arrival in Berkeley, Arron discovered that Carlotta had left the university research staff and had returned to Italy. He got a hotel room in San Francisco and contemplated his options. He spent several months looking for more information on Carlotta. After his search came up empty, Arron decided to contact the Wardens. Perhaps they could help him with his out of his predicament.
