Thoughts of a Rough Day

Chris went back to his loft after the attack.

While he felt good about cleaning up the strike force as easily as he did, he felt uneasy about the missiles. He wondered what kind of person would sacrifice a strike team as a diversion. True, they weren't Navy SEAL or Soviet Spetznatz caliber soldiers, but they weren't hockey pucks, either. He'd have to interrogate them to see what was going on. He didn't think that they were just a diversion; they were supposed to accomplish something. He'd have to figure out what.

Marina didn't do badly on her first serious situation. She could've done better, but you expect things like that from freshmen/rookies. Then again Horatio had to be rescued from drowning, so Marina didn't do badly at all.

Missile simulations were going to have to be integrated into practice. Chris thought about the damage to Alcatraz and thought, we can't let this happen again.

Ally didn't do badly, once again with a big assist from Horatio. Turning that missile aside was huge.

Then of course there was his dockside group. Eve and Frank knocking commandoes into San Francisco Bay brought a smile to his face, as did his own performance. But the smile was short-lived as he almost heard Brasidas say, “You didn't do that well. Look at your facilities. You needed to get all the operatives, all the hovercraft, and especially all the missiles.”

But you taught me perseverance, thought Chris and I will track these cowards down. I will teach them what it is to attack the Wardens and almost drown two of us. I will teach them what it is to destroy monuments to warriors and justice. I will teach them what it is to attack our home.

Chris took a deep breath and settled himself. Time enough for vengeance. The Wardens would be better served by careful investigation, careful planning and then, careful vengeance.

Someone wanted a fight, well, now they would have one.

Chris strapped on his armor in preparation for another night on the town. Be careful not to hurt the criminals too badly, he told himself.
