Randall "Dutch" Claibourne, a.k.a. John Battle
The Secret History of Randall "Dutch" Claibourne
Randall "Dutch" Claibourne was born on May 10, 1841 in Summerville, Georgia.
In 1928, Dutch under the alias John Battle took a job with the federal government as a federal marshal. After a few years on working for the government, he retired and returned to traveling.
Over the next sixty-seven years, John Battle came and went as a government employee. He has worked as a federal marshal, an FBI agent, an OSS operative, and many other special assignments. It is even rumored that he played some part in the original super soldier projects, Project: Super Soldier and Project: Super Trooper.
After the Grand Empire rose to prominence, John Battle either on his on or as a government agent took great interest in stopping them and their criminal activities.
John Battle returned to work with the government for the final time as a federal marshal in 1990. He was assigned to work with the FSS. He served as the FSS' liaison with Orion on a special task force investigating the possible resurgence of the Grand Empire organization.
In 1995 after a falling out with his superiors at the FSS when they would not accept his opinions that the Grand Empire was about to resurface as a major organization, John Battle resigned and took an advisory position as tactical advisor and field coordinator with the original Wardens.
When the original Wardens disappeared while investigating the phantom castle on December 24, 1996, John Battle at the request of the Alcatraz Foundation recruited a new group of heroes to fill the void.
John Battle has served as the leader of the Wardens since forming the second group. Unbeknownst to the public, he took a medical leave of absence from the Wardens in January 2001.
Dutch's friend, Dr. Rebecca Miller, one of the foremost authorities in the field of paranormal medicine, determined that after 160 years of retarded aging Dutch had started aging at an accelerated rate and only had a few years to live.
Dutch spent his new found leisure time writing his memoirs.
Dutch married Mariah Hernandez, a.k.a. Star, in a private ceremony on February 14, 2001. Mariah gave birth to their son, Juan Randall, on May 23, 2001.
A few weeks after Juan Randall's birth, Dutch was killed trying to keep agents from the Grand Empire from kidnapping the baby.
During all of his years of government service, Dutch's true identity and age were never discovered by his employers. Dutch was very careful as to who he revealed his secret and at the time of his death only six people knew the truth of who he was and how long he had lived; his wife, Mariah; her mother, Carmen; her aunt, Gisela, a.k.a. Estrella; his doctor, Rebecca Miller; his confidant, Jonathan Chandler, a.k.a. Goshawk; and his chosen successor, Frank Flaherty, a.k.a. Silver Star.
John Battle's death was kept secret by the Wardens at the request of Mariah.
Publicly, Star and John Battle served as the co-leaders of the Wardens until his retirement and her transfer to reserve status were announced on September 3, 2001.
As far as the public knows, John Battle is currently traveling the world after his retirement from the Wardens.
