Wardens Chronicles

Game Date: 04.10.2001

Final Exam, Revelations and Researches

Upon returning to North Bay, Frank and Thunder fill John Battle in on the encounter with Void and the Kronians. Frank thinking that it would be a good way to cover himself and be prepared for the next attack, asks John Battle to sponsor him for the Wardens.

John Battle first asks Frank if he is serious. After receiving Frank affirmation, John Battle says that Frank must be willing to submit to a test before he can in good conscience recommend Frank for membership in the Wardens. John Battle tells Frank that the test will be a full speed combat exercise between Frank and Jonathan.

Frank replies "John, you know me. I may have tried every dangerous, harebrained thing under the sun. But, that was different. I was the only one that could have gotten hurt. Now there's someone after me and it doesn't look like they care whether they kill anyone else or not. So, if this is the only way, then I'm game."

John Battle calls Jonathan and escorts Frank and Jonathan to the combat training area of the estate. Once the two of them are in the "arena," John Battle says to Jonathan, "final exam." Jonathan surges forward on the offensive.

Frank lets Jonathan do the attacking. Dodging in and out and making quick attacks, Frank waits for Jonathan to make "THE" mistake. Jonathan manages to land a couple of blows in the first 30 to 40 seconds of the exercise. Although neither lands solidly, each one staggers Frank making him wonder if he is choosing the right path in joining the Wardens. Finally, Jonathan leaves the opening for which Frank had been waiting. Frank moves in to finish the "final exam". He pounces upon Jonathan using his momentum to drive his head into the "arena" wall.

John Battle calls halt and the exercise is over. John Battle then asks Frank to shake hands with Goshawk, formerly of Chicago Central and Jonathan extends his hand. Frank shakes Jonathan's hand and gives him a big friendly smile.

After looking Frank up and down for a moment, John Battle smiles and says that he will recommend him for membership in the Wardens. John Battle then tells Frank to get cleaned up and join him in his study. John Battle says to Frank he has something to tell him.

After cleaning up from the combat exercise, Frank joins John Battle in his study. John Battle tells Frank that there is something that he promised Frank's parents that he would never reveal to Frank but under the circumstances he thinks that they would want Frank to know.

John Battle then tells Frank of how he found Frank and gave him to his parents. John Battle says that he suspects that the Grand Empire maybe behind the deaths of Frank's parents and the recent attacks on Frank. Frank's first reaction is one of shock and disbelief and he says, "John that is impossible! I had two wonderful parents and I have a sister!" After some convincing, John Battle calms down Frank and brings him to a point of reason.

Frank asks John Battle if John knows who Frank's biological parents were. John answers that they were most likely followers of the Grand Empire. Frank asks John Battle where the "lab" is and if there are any records from the lab where he was born. John Battle replies that where the "lab" was is more appropriate. The "lab" was in near Tijuana, Mexico. The Grand Empire blew up the "lab" to keep it from falling into Orion's hands. No records could be salvaged from the ruins.

Frank excuses himself and goes to his room to think about today's revelations.

A few days later, Frank sees John Battle working on his memoirs and asks if he can take a look at them. John Battle declines saying that they are not in a readable state. He does offer to let Frank look at them once they are in a more coherent form. Frank thanks John Battle and says that he will be looking forward to it.

Frank checks the results of the computers checks run by John Battle on the doctors who had been approaching Frank about studying his extraordinary luck. Most are legitimate doctors working for legitimate organizations. Several have been associated with questionable research projects but nothing illegal. A couple cannot be found in any database that Whitney searched.

There is one case worthy of special mention. The case of Dr. Welton Marischal, a.k.a. Adamis, who is currently at Blanco Mesa awaiting review from Orion on whether the United States can try him for breaking into the DeYoung Museum or does they have to deport him to Austria. Welton Marischal is a boy genius medical type and is a recognized expert in the field of paranormal medicine, second only to Dr. Rebecca Miller a frequent consultant to the Wardens. Marischal is also a recognized expert in the field of Genetics.

John Battle gives Frank access to the Wardens file on the break in at the DeYoung Museum and the capture of Adamis and the other members of the Myrmidon Cohort. Thunder also gives Frank a rundown on the break-in.

Frank researches whether Austria has any known connections with paranormal criminals or terrorists and finds that most of the European nations that were monarchies prior to the World Wars are known to have Grand Empire sympathizers.
