Into The Void

Void makes contact with Tim Green, Shockwave's contact at the FSS. Tim notifies Shockwave and only Shockwave that Void wishes a chance to speak with one of the Wardens. Shockwave agrees and asks for the location. Tim says that Void only left a radio frequency on which to contact him. Shockwave writes down the frequency and heads home.

At his apartment, Shockwave switches to Void's frequency and listens for transmissions. Hearing none, Shockwave decides to contact Void. Turning on a tape recorder, Shockwave begins his transmission. He does not have to wait long for Void's reply. Shockwave asks Void why he wanted to speak only to him. Void replies that he wants a chance to talk with someone who is not going to shoot first and ask questions later. He says he also wants it to be a face-to-face talk.

"Hmm, well then how about on top of the Golden Gate Bridge, I think I can get reservations," says Shockwave jokingly.

"Too much chance for a party with guests at that location." replied Void matter of factly. He then suggests a park a little north of Stanford University in Palo Alto.

Shockwave, thought to himself, why does no one ever want to go to the GGB? "Ok, sounds fine to me."

Shockwave heads for San Medina Park and there he meets Void.

Void tells Shockwave that his name is Fredric Klaus and he is from the future, approximately 150 years in the future as near as he can determine.

"Well then, what brings you to our end of the timeline? They don't make sourdough bread up there?" Shockwave rocks back on his heals while talking to Klaus

"I am here to stop a tragedy. A tragedy that leads to a future of pain and suffering, the future from which I come," states Void.

"And the boys in silver? What's their story?" Shockwave asks.

"They are Kronians. They are here to stop me and my mission."

"Ok, so what are you wanting to do here?" Shockwave says looking on skeptically.

"That is my quandary; I do not know what I am to stop," states Void. "Only the signs that lead up to it. Even then I am not sure of the signs. All I have had to work with are legends, stories and some old data discs. I have compared and analyzed them and believe I can identify the tragedy in time to stop it. At least that is my hope."

"Ok, well I need some evidence, and while being attacked by a bunch of armored goons may work for some people, I think I need something more," Shockwave says with a smile.

"What do you need?" asked Void.

"Well, I would like for you to come with me to my base, not to be arrested, but I need to have you tell your story to my team and what these 'events' are that you are wanting to stop."

"One of the Kronians is at your base, so it is not a place that I wish to be," commented Void. "If it is information that you seek then I may be able to provide something that will win your trust. After all I am a man of honor."

"I spoke of data discs. I was able to salvage some news records of this time and this area. But the evidence I have was rather inconsequential, I know that between February 25 and 28, in a game called basketball, the Lakers will beat the Celtics 98-96 and the Warriors will beat the Mavericks 125-104. On that same day, Joaquin Hyradi will resign as western regional director of the FSS. It will happen in the next four days."

At that point Void gets up and starts walking away, he turns and says "call me when what I have told you comes to pass." Void then vanishes into a vortex.

Scratching his head, Shockwave checks his tape recorder and then flies off.
