The New Wardens

Guests: Armstrong Moorland, Juana Lopez (Gato), Eduardo Delacruz (Leon), Maria Onoronto (Ocelot), Elba Alonzo (Pantera), Miguel Jimenez (Puma), Christian Vazquez (Tigre), Sinjin Miles (Scorpion), Cynthia Miles (Alacran), Jonathan Chandler (Goshawk), Leif Thorrsen (Thunder), Jaxton Gray
Following the decision by Blue Rose, Brasidas, Shadow Tiger, Silver Star, Horatio Eon, Dawn and Impulse to investigate the activities of the Olmetecs, they have another meeting with Armstrong Moorland and a plan for the succession of the Wardens Reserve to full active status is put together so that San Francisco is not left without guardians when the Warders go on the road.
The Wardens Reserves are informed that a need exists for them to take a more active role in the support of the Wardens. They are told that several members of the Wardens need some inactive time for various personal issues and their services are needed to supplement the Wardens roster. All of the reserve members agree to a move to active status.
The reserves; Gato, Leon, Ocelot, Pantera, Puma and Tigre are moved to active status on the FSS roles, while Horatio Eon and Blue Rose are moved to North Bay reserve status. The FSS is also presented with credentials identifying Impulse as a reserve member of Vanguard serving on temporary assignment with the Wardens. A press release announces the change in the Wardens membership roster including a brief on Impulse's temporary assignment.
Brasidas, Impulse, Marina and Shadow Tiger take up the duty of patrolling with the new team members. Brasidas takes the lead roll in getting the former members of the Wardens Reserves up to speed. The training sessions he conducts are intense and there is much friction between the trainees and their instructor.
Silver Star continues to coordinate team meetings but spends most of his time identifying and talking to prospective candidates to be the leader of the next incarnation of the Wardens. Ally spends her time going back and forth between the Northstar facility and the North Bay Estate. Horatio spends all of his time in the labs at the Northstar facility.
Silver Star meets with Sinjin and Cynthia. He talks with them about their future plans. After all they have been through, he is somewhat surprised when they tell him that they have been in contact with Dr. Andrew Kensington about having new Scorpion style battlesuits constructed for them. His surprised fades some when they tell him the reason why. Pulse, a member of the Wardens Reserve, is missing and they are going to find him. Silver Star wishes them luck with their mission and offers the help of the Wardens and Wardens' resources in locating "one of our own."
The first task that Brasidas and Impulse plan, as part of their patrolling routine with the new Wardens, is an encounter with "Shockwave." Impulse is very interested in getting a chance to speak with "Shockwave" and it would provide a challenge for the new members to locate and speak with a paranormal outside of the normal FSS channels.
Frank has dinner with Jonathan Chandler at North Bay. He confides in him that Blue Rose, Brasidas, Shadow Tiger, Horatio Eon, Dawn and himself are all considering going inactive and that the reserves are being prepared as replacements. Frank goes on to explain that Scorpion and Alacran, formerly the second Scorpion, are not returning to active status due to personal issues. Jonathan quickly analyzes the situation and states that the reserves are more followers than leaders. The situation that Frank is describing is not a very sound strategy for ensuring that San Francisco has a competent Radley-Gold team. Frank explains that this is the crux of the matter and the reason that he wanted to speak with Jonathan. Frank asks Jonathan to be the leader of the new incarnation of the Wardens and the two of them spend the rest of the night discussing the proposal. In the morning, Jonathan still has not reached a decision on matter. Jonathan says that he needs more time to think about it and also suggests that Frank speak with Leif about assuming leadership of the Wardens. Frank says that Jonathan has a few weeks to deliberate. He also says that he had planned on speaking with Leif but wanted Jonathan's input prior to speaking with him.
Later that day after resting at his North Bay apartment, Frank has a meeting with Leif Thorrsen. They discuss the situation with the Wardens, the fact that most of the veterans will be going inactive and that the new members will need a leader. Frank also tells Leif that he has discussed the matter with Jonathan and that Jonathan is currently undecided upon taking over as the leader of the Wardens. Leif spends very little time thinking over the matter before declining the position. He tells Frank that most of his experience has been as a solo operative and his has very little experience in commanding small units. Leif does agree to act as advisor on public relations matters and dealing with the FSS to whoever becomes the Wardens' leader. Frank understands Leif's reasoning for turning down the position and thanks him for volunteering to be an advisor.
Frank spends the next couple of days at North Bay. Most of his time is spent reading through several different analyses of the principles of effective leadership and several of biographies of military leaders. He also happens across notes on leading paranormal groups in John Battle's memoirs. After reading John Battle's notes, Frank hits upon a novel candidate for leader of the Wardens and goes to speak with Jaxton Gray, former Kronian assault team leader.
Frank speaks with Jaxton about the situation with the Wardens. They discuss the ramifications of the veterans leaving active status and the former reserves taking the active role in protecting the San Francisco Bay area. Frank then explains that he feels Jaxton would be an ideal candidate for the position of tactical field commander for the group. Jaxton is a bit taken aback by Frank's proposal but after listening to his analysis of the matter, he agrees with Frank's reasoning. Frank explains that Jonathan is also being considered for the position. Jaxton indicates that he would only be interested in the position, if Jonathan declined it and with one other condition. Frank looks at Jaxton for a moment then says the chance to return home and Jaxton nods. Frank says that he understands Jaxton feelings on the matter and would definitely be following up with him about the position.
After the meeting with Jaxton, Frank heads for San Francisco. On the way back, he stops by the Moorland Estate and speaks with Armstrong Moorland. Once back at the warehouse headquarters, he speaks with Chris, Eve, Mariah and Tom about his trip to North Bay. Chris and Eve agree that although he is an unexpected candidate, Jaxton would probably do well as the tactical field commander for the Wardens. Tom suggests that if Jaxton does take the position, a talk with Dr. Kensington may be in order to get a battlesuit built for him.
The next day, Jonathan calls Frank with his decision. He tells Frank that he does not feel the desire to return to active status with a Radley-Gold group and declines the offer to lead the Wardens. Jonathan does volunteer to become an advisor and training coordinator for the Wardens and Frank accepts his offer.
Frank contacts Jaxton and advises him of Jonathan's decision. Jaxton accepts the position of tactical field commander with the Wardens with the condition that if a way is found for him to return home, he will be able to resign the position without ill feelings from any of the parties involved. Frank agrees to Jaxton's condition and advises Jaxton that the all of the Wardens will be taking a trip to North Bay to meet their new tactical field commander.
After the call to Jaxton, Frank sits back and reflects on the day's events. The Wardens would have a decent personnel lineup, a little light in the air support but otherwise very capable. The tactical command of the group was in good hands but the group was lacking one important element, a public face. Someone that would be good at handling the press, the FSS and the public dealings of the group, the things beyond the realm of combat. There was still work to be done.
